I'm sure this Buckmaster wire cutter attachment is covered in Neyman's Buckmaster Book and is common knowledge here on the Buck Forum, but I don't own the book and somehow, I have never seen or heard of this wire cutter since I became a hollow handle knife enthusiast in 1982. How rare are these wire cutters and how long were they offered with the knife?

These photos appeared on a Randall knife forum and are being used by permission.

See photos below!

The wire cutter is a standard feature of the M9 bayonet, never seen one on a production Buckmaster, was probably just a prototype thingie.

I can't see the pictures either, but there is mention in the book of sheaths with an experimental wire cutter attachment for the Buckmaster 184.

It's the black sheath in these pictures.

They revived the idea for the M9 sheath, but IIRC the Army said it was to heavy.

Photos aren't showing for anyone? Strange! I can see them and they're in JPEG format. The wire cutter that I am referring to has nothing to do with the sheath. It is a separate attachment that screws into the same threaded hole as the grappling spike. Owner says it came with the knife.

I'll try the photos one more time.

The forum your linking from, requires you to be a member to see the photos it looks like.

Yep, I found the original thread on KTF, but since I'm not a member, I can't view pics.

Dang! Not sure why. Who's good at reconfiguring photo attachments? I'll PM you the link to the photos and hopefully you will be able to post them. The photos are clear and worthy of discussion.

Cool wire cutter. Thanks for the pics effort.

Has anyone tried to use grappling hook? Can it even support body weight?

Always loved the look of the 184, but never have handled one.

They're rated at 250lbs. From what I have read they are more for anchoring than repelling.

Okay, I saved the photos and loaded them on imgur. If this doesn't work, I give up.

Do they happen to show the other side of the blade? It's going to be the only way to date it. I think the wire cutter is aftermarket. This could quite possibly be a counterfeit. The spikes look too short?

This also doesn't appear to have been used, and that almost makes me think this was made just before the photo was taken.
This is just speculation, but if it's not in the book or anything.
