I picked up this buckmaster the otherday, i seen it setting in a case at a flea market. I was baffled. Its the first one i have seen other than my dads. Its in great shape. The knife has a paten # and the sheath says Patten pending. What i find odd is it has no tang stamp, no date code or anything. Other than the large letters. Any info?

buckman, If there is a question in your mind you can go to the U.S. patent site and look through the numbers to find That number. I'm no expert on that model but it looks real. Those go for $$$ bucks... DM

I've not seen one with a leather strap, that could indicate that it early, or fake. Don't know which.

The leather strap was added to the sheath by the old owner...
It never came that way...

I did, its confirmed its real. Almost like my dads. From what i can tell its the second variation. And that leTher strap was added, i gotta get rid of it and put something better on it.

I don't know anything about the Buckmaster, but I keep an index of model history articles from the BCCI Newsletters. Joe Houser has an article in December 2003 and Rich Neyman has articles in December 2011 and March 2012. Also, Neyman wrote a book about the Buckmaster.

Your 184 is a variation 6 made from March 1987 till September 1999. This is the most common with 47,758 made per Richard Neyman's Buckmaster book. Pg 246.

Buckman110 - If you would like you can send me your mailing address and I will print out the pages that relate to your knife and send them to you. I have about a half dozen of the same variation. Or better yet send me your email address and I will send you some clearer pictures you can print off.

Great score.
