Bucks USA slip joints ?

Agreed x3! If not for the internet, we wouldn't know how badly made knives really are....lol

I just received a 250 Saunter. I was jonesin' for a new slip joint and decided it would be the one.
Opened box- check
Open blade - check
Is it sharp - check
Close blade - check
Centered blade - don't know / don't care

Add some paracord and into the pocket she goes.

I'll say this, this little guy hits well above its weight class. I think it's new forever home is my pocket.

I dont know why they add that little slip sheath. Nice touch, but useless like the fancy box.

Did Buck send the wrong COA ? The one pictured is for the Impact.

I was wondering if anyone would catch that. Yes... before I pitched the box I figured I'd see what the COA said about it. Turns out my 250 is actually an 898. 🤪

Dont forget Camillus used to be what China is now. Cheaper than making your own. Everyone used Cammilus. Now everyone is using China.

The real tragedy in this story is the loss of Camillus not Bucks lack of desire to make slip joints.
Not really a fan of China made products or slip joints but examined a few examples last week that were on par with Case and one that if it had a GEC tang stamp wouldn’t have though it different. The cost of these ranged from around $12 to $15 . I kid you not . I know Buck could come up with some premium American made traditional slip joints .

look at civivi and rough rider. ones i have inspected have near perfect f&f.
After closely inspecting these I was pretty surprised , they have caught up quick. Would be great if Buck came up a premium line with different scales and better action to compete with what from I'm seeing as a huge opportunity. They could still use their 420 HC and some 1095 carbon. Maybe offer a few models with half stops as well.

I'd like to see a 300 series of single blade knives myself
You mean like this one ? The biggest reason America can't compete with China is because we stopped trying.

Another variation of the Buck 302. Funny think is this 302, and one other I owned (yellow like the one Skyhorse has) were the snappiest Buck 300 series I’ve owned. OH

If I recall , the one I showed was actually a prototype I got from the web specials back when they sold build outs there. I sure miss Chuck Buck , God bless him.

I don't think it would be too difficult for Buck to add more variety to their slip joint lineup. 1, 2 and 3 blades and different scales on the existing 301 and 303 frame. I would buy them up! I do when I see them!

You know there's so many patterns that Buck could put out there if they chose to do so. Improve a premium line with better action and walk and talk. Possibly employ a few patterns with half stops as well. I had a conversation just yesterday with a young fellow about a new American owned brand producing a new line of modern slip joints being made in China that will cost between $200 to $300 , saying I wouldn't pay that. He says look at the thousand dollar iPhones and what's the difference ? The difference is no one will make one in America. I know Buck can do it, look at GEC and people flipping them for x3 the purchase price because demand exceeds supply for American made premium traditional's .

Now that brass 302 is a knife I could get behind.

I got my 302 from the web specials a few years ago, I may need to carry it here soon.
I was just starting to realize I mostly prefer smaller pocket knives shortly after I bought it and haven't used it all that much.
