Buck's website

Interesting, I'm logged into the Pro Site right now, and the Buck/Hood comes up as 145.20. I'm not a member of the collector's club though, might that be the difference? Or am I just not professional enough?

You can beat that price by more than $20 (BIN $122.49) on the best known auction site right this minute with free shipping. The 40% discount isn't a big deal for the most part.

I guess that being said has anybody ever seen any of the Buck Hood knives actually be in stock for sale on Buck's site

Yep. Got my Hoodlum last year as one of my discount purchases. Most everything will become available at one time or another. IIRC the Hoodlum was available for a day or two then "unavailable" again for a couple of weeks then available again which is when I bought mine. Just keep checking. Still have 9 months before your discounts expire.

I bot the big Hood, with pot holder notch, for under $100 last year via BCCI log in. I'll get a pic up for your amusement.

I'm glad that I wasn't delusional about that.

Even if they do expire, they get renewed again for next year (for life members at least), but you miss out on this years 2 knives. I usually wait until the end of the year and if what I want still isn't available, I go with some of my second choices. I'll never use the discounts up early on cheap knives, I'll wait until they're about to expire, then consider the less expensive ones.

There are couple that I am interested in . Nothing I absolutely had to have. I think I would pick up the Hood Thug though for $80 if it were available. Maybe even a Punk. Don't like the Hoodlum , however the limited edition one is sweet. I don't have 350.00 to part with right now...or in the forseeable future for 1 knife .
Thinking Maybe the Boone and Crockett General 120 or a Vantage force but most likely will wait to see what comes along this year.

CA Dave, imaginative genius and gift to this forum, gets the creative credit for using these two comic strip character's names as verbal lead in to a pictorial comparison of two different pieces of cutlery. WTG Plumber.

I've used several machetes since I was a kid to slash and hack wild and unruly foliage in this neck of the woods. And swung all of them, dangerous as that may be, in anger because that emotion seemed to make the work more satisfying. While in Central America in the 1970s I was treated to the machete as an EDC and yard tool carried by many of the indigenous population outside the few cities. I was amazed to see some real fancy ones, proud possessions, used to cut small lawns, make huts and just hanging from belts on the ready-line. So I already had a built-in desire for the Hood pictured above.

Bot for myself. My younger son witnessed the unboxing and was so taken with it that I gave it to him on the spot. We worked out a deal to show it in the display case for a bit until he beat the bushes with it and took it camping. It has been on display, on the ready-line, since. It is a delight to swing thru the air and I can almost hear the ooohhhs and aaawwws from rural Central Americans if they were to see one in person. I've a plan to get another for myself and my older son.

This kind of tool that is best used when the cutting edge is swung with a will has a bad rep. in circles that prefer power tools with safety features that keep your body out of harm's way. Power trimmers for example. Even I have a chainsaw, battery-powered, on a stick that keeps the business end beyond arm's length. However, in the strong hands of someone with a will and in a remote location where electricity isn't an option this tool would shine.

Well I got the itch to order something so I ordered another alpha custom this time with ironwood scales / Mirrored Blade/ and my "Honestlyinsane's" engraved. Only I thing I wish is that during the review order process they actually listed what you ordered. I took a screen shot of what I built before I placed my order.

well for anybody interested the Buck website has the Hood Punk available .BCCI Pro discount dropped it to 72.00 . I used this as one of my two knives for the year.

Thank you kindly for the heads up H.I. I'm eyeballing and holding my water until a couple FBs become available. And, Plumber Dave you are worth your weight in gold for the needed reminder on how to sign in and once in to click "knives" and NOT "shop" since I do this once a year it is easy to go wrong. I was getting $108 for the Punk until I re-read your post and then got $72.

My pleasure!

Let me give the BCCI promo...yes , the two knives a year at the 'really big' discount is a BCCI members only discount(s). You can also buy sheaths and clothing at this big discount also with bigger item number limits. The rest of the methods and areas is buyer beware....I am saving my BCCI discount for a certain knife. or two. Should they ever come on the website. I ended up last year using it to just buy two Vantages and gave them away.
300

Good points Craig.

One of my heartburns has been that some have pushed membership in the club (as worth the price) SIMPLY because we can get these great discounts.

In my opinion, the REAL value of being a member is the vast amount of information available on the BCCI web side, not to mention the great friendships that can be made with other members. The discounts are just icing on a really terrific cake. If I never got another knife through the Pro Site, I'd still be thrilled with all the other things that I do get.

BCCI discounts, Pro Site!!

Clueless. I guess I need to get back here more often.

Is the cake chocolate:rolleyes::D
