Budding Becker-ite BK-14 Questions

I use a lansky, which is similar to the sharpmaker, but a bit more on the budget side. If you get the full kit, it goes from like 60(?) grit to like 1000 grit. That gets the knife pretty sharp, but I would love it if they had some ultra-super fine stones that were in the 2k-8k range. Does anyone know if they make something like that for the lansky?

To get a mirror finish on my edge, I need to use 2000 grit sandpaper at least.
 
Your existing stones will put a very good working edge on the knife - it's more technique than equipment. Practice makes perfect.

The sheath issue gets a lot of publicity - in real world terms and normal usage, it is not that big a deal - few months use and it will be good to go.
