Buddy List?

I understand and use the Ignore list but what is the Buddy list for? I tried to use the search function on the Service and Support forum but got an unable to display this page.

I haven't used that feature myself, but I think it's supposed to tell you when the people you've listed as buddies are online so you can send them a Private Message and expect an immediate reply.
