Budget Beater - $50 or less?

My go-to beater lately has been the Steel Will Modus - but you said no D2.

I'm not a fan of the CR steels so I've been looking at the Civivi Courser & Aquila in VG10 steel. They are just a bit above your $50 range at $55.99.

I’m here to second getting a 110lt from SkBlades.
$40 for CPM154?
Can’t be beat.

A byrd raven 2 would be a good option. Bd1 blade steel and ffg. It is a great knife built very tough at 45 dollars or so. To me it is like a tenacious with an upgraded us steel

Can't get much more "beater" than a Buck 110. Us working class heroes have been using and abusing the things for decades.

The drop point model in 5160 would be one hell of a beater, and if it ever gives up the ghost, send it in for a spa treatment.

I have owned/used probably a few hundred different sub-$50 knives. The Byrd Cara Cara 2 is by far my favorite. As my tastes and wallet have grown I have pretty much gifted and sold all but 3 of my sub-$100 knives-Sak Rambler, Cara Cara 2, and UKPK. And not surprisingly, all are my most used. I have tried both Rats a couple of different times, for some reason, I just really dislike them. Which is strange since so many do. “Clunky”, I guess would be the best way to explain it. Same with the tenacious.
