Budget Blade you'd like to see upgraded

Keeping the same "EXACT" design changing "ONLY" the materials used......My examples would be the Spyderco Tenacious with S30v ??? or how about an Ontario Rat 1 with D2 and G10 scales ???

Delica and Endura with a finger choil at the front like a PM2 or Caly.

More Kershaw budget designs with better steel. I know ZT is their "quality" brand, but Kershaw could stand to stop churning out the endless variations of knives, and focus on improving a few with maybe some limited runs, a la Spyderco. The Blur is a good example of the success of this strategy.

I too would like to see the Tenacious upgraded, but VG-10 would make more sense. The Rat 1 and 2 I think are fine, except perhaps a larger cutout for the thumbstud would be nice.

I'd like to see the Beckers and ESEE knives get a premium stainless version for humid environments or working in water.

Full tang Mora in some nice woods and g10 or micarta. Production version, that is.

I'll play. This would be my wet dream....

Cold Steel Recon 1 XL - A2 tool steel blade with blackwash or DLC, heavily scalloped micarta scales orange/black layers, titanium liners, and made in USA. Maybe add 1mm of blade thickness, but keep the full flat grind.

Make it so!

HA.....great ideas so far...I wonder what it would take for any of these knife company's to bite ??? wouldn't that be cool !!!

Victorinox, their knives work well as they are but it would be nice to see an upgrade in the blade steel.

Rat-1 with G10 scales,better coating and 14C28N steel.
Kershaw Junkyard Dog II with smaller pocket clip
Also Böker Magnum Desert Warrior in 1095 instead of 440a and with better f&f

I'd like to see the Cold Steel Tuff Lite and I guess the mini version with a steel upgrade (VG-10 perhaps or one of the "better" steels) and more attention paid to the lock.

Kershaw Cryo II, Spyderco Resilience, and the Leatherman multitool blades (besides the Charge tti) all in S30v

Gonna have to second the Kwaiken in better steel...thats whats keeping me from buying one in all honesty, but I can't really afford a full on custom one either. I could swing a $200 model in elmax/m390/CPMwhatever/etc tho with out batting an eye.

Recon 1!

Better blade steel, maybe 154 CM / D2 / CPM 154 / S30V / Elmax / CTS XHP / VG 10, anything works really, just something higher end than AUS8... Sabre grind as well, toughness is important in a knife touted for "hard use" like the Recon 1.

Jimping straight through the lockbar like the new Talwar to silence the multitude of complainers.

And a pocket clip that is actually usable.

Oh, and remove that Teflon coating, and offer satin and DLC versions.

And maybe different colours of G10.

Would be a sweet knife.

If Case would use 440C in their standard line, I'd be happy. Given the small size of the blades, how much are they really saving per knife by using 420-whatever?

I'd love an Opinel in highly polished ATS-34. :)

My most-carried knife, the AG Russell Hunters Scalpel, was recently redesigned with a steel upgrade from AUS8 to AUS10. The difference is obvious, and AG managed to do it while keeping the price the exact same.

If that darn pesky Bear Grylls knife had more reputable steel and maybe lost the serrations, I would love one + bring back the original sharpener

I'd say go ahead and get one anyways. It is worth it, especially the Ti flipper version. The F&F on that knife is as good as any full production knife I've handled. The AUS8 isn't a terrible steel. It gets very sharp, just requires a bit more stropping to maintain it. Not a deal breaker for me, but I'd love to see an upgraded steel too.

NO - NO - NO!!! Don't you mess with MY full flat grind!!! It is a folder. I'd prefer it to cut stuff well. Full flat ground blades are plenty strong enough for "hard use". Just ask Jerry Busse. Sabre grind would screw it all up and make it not cut worth a damn.

I'd love to see the Esee Zancudo with G10 handles, titanium frame and S30V. Awesome.
Maybe a LITTLE bigger too.
