Budget Blade you'd like to see upgraded

Cold Steel American Lawman, made in the US with S30V or similar blade steel.

A SAK with decent steel would be nice, too. The closest I've got is the A.G. Russell Premium Scout, which has a 154-CM blade and a couple of tools.

Case stainless slipjoints and fixed blades could use an upgrade, too. I usually stick to CV, but they only offer their fixed blades in that awful Tru-Sharp stainless.

Oh, that reminds me: inexpensive Rough Riders in 1095 instead of 440A would be nice. More character. And the springs aren't bad but I like a beartrap, so stronger springs too.

Bunch of good suggestions here.

Personally I'd like to see a premium version of the Kershaw Tremor - Better steel plus IKBS instead of assisted.

Kershaw Cryo as a manual with a Sandvik blade, and make an upgraded version with a better steel (154cm minimum) and full titanium. The upgraded version could be a smaller 801, basically.

Being almost exclusively a fixed-blade guy... I gotta say pretty much any Ka-Bar or Becker in 3V or Elmax, with G10 scales. As well as some Cold Steels, like the Master Hunter, SRK, Recon Scout etc.

Although actually, that would be terrible for my business... so never mind. :p

Emerson Horseman with a high saber grind M4 steel and LSCF scales with a reversible pocket clip, IKBS and compression or button lock.
I know the OP said budget blade, but everything about Emerson knives screams "budget" but the price.

I'd like to see the Gerber Bear Grylls Ultimate Survival Knife (yes I said it!) in 3V, Micarta and a Kydex sheath. I think the design is sound - just let down by the materials.

I made an entire thread about specifically this nonexistent knife:
American Lawman in 3V. They have 3V, they still produce the AUS8 knife, and it'd be a nice in-between the Lawman and the Demko AD10.

+1 I'd be happy with 1095! I think the handle is fine but the sheath would definitely need to be kydex.

Bob W,
I am sorry, you miss the cost of working the better steel, 440C would raise the cost for Case far beyond the cost of the steel. Most of their customers would not pay the cost. Buy the Bose-Case knives with high order steel A. G.

Rat 1 with micarta handle, stronger clip and a choil instead of useless area between handle and blade.

Cold Steel Recon 1 with m4 steel. This is the only folder I've had with absolute zero blade play after extended use and abuse. My adamas has a descent amount of blade movement after a couple weeks after constantly using it but recon has zero. Would gladly pay $180 for a Recon 1 with m4 or s30v. It would be perfect. Really hope they will have the choice to upgrade the steel on their folders in the future.

I'd like a Recon 1 made of steel instead of AUS8. Would be an amazing knife if you didn't have to sharpen it after every paper test.

My hyperbole sense is tingling! AUS-8 doesn't hold an edge like ZDP, but would will have to cut a butt load of paper to dull it, unless you test your knives on sandpaper like a putz.

Another cool knife would be the Spyderco Junior upgraded to have a flipper (same design though) and a deep carry clip. VG-10 is a good enough steel, no need to upgrade it. Or a Gayle Bradley with a flipper and deep carry clip.
