Hello,

I am looking for a folder matching the points bellow:
  • Blade length: 3.1” to 3.7”
  • Blade material: no s35vn
  • Blade finish: black
  • Handle material: G10 or micarta
  • Locking mechanism: no back lock, would like to avoid frame lock
  • Pivot system: no ball bearings
  • Opening mechanism: nonautomatics
  • Price limit: under 160$
i will mainly use it as a beater when working inside the house and in the yard

I already have (or have had):
  • Black paramilitary 2
  • Black 0350
  • Ranger green Bugout
what would you recommend ?

Manix 2 or bust for me.

to counter this manix trend, here is one of the best values for many years running - rat 2 in d2 - and it's actually on a tight budget < $50

Just to be different.

Edit: also the Kershaw Xcom. Folding knife, with that "old school" all purpose style.

What do you consider "budget"?
When I hear budget and black blade, my mind jumps to the Kershaw Blackout. I'd probably still have/carry it, but I'm pretty much over black blades and assisted openers.

I've carried a Kershaw Cryo off and on for almost 10 yrs. I usually don't need a knife every day and usually only use it once or twice a week but there are times where I used it a few times per day. I have utility knives and scissors near me most of the time so my EDC knives don't see much use. The Cryo has inferior steel for knife snobs but it's decent for EDC and I only used ceramic rods to touch up over the 10 yrs I had mine and it's still shaving sharp. I've bought a few and given them as gifts to family and close friends over the years.

The Cryo II is the bigger version and in the $30 range and come in various finishes. It is a frame lock (Hinderer design) and it's assisted open so those might not fit your criteria.

I still think a lightly used Freek (Super Freek) fits your needs. KnifeWorks has a 810 Contego exclusive on closeout for $140 shipped but both colors come with satin blades (M390). I've been very tempted by this one.
