Hi All,

Finished this knife yesterday I am going to call it a Buffalo Hunter after what I believe is a knife I purchased from the 1850’s. This one is I think the nicest one I have made to date. Made from Aldo’s 1084 Heat treated and double tempered to a Rockwell 59 its one of the larger knives I have made. As the craft gets better larger knives are becoming easier to make. I really hesitated about putting this one up, it’s some sort of mile stone for me.
I will make a custom Kydex sheath for you. If you want one we can talk about what exactly you need so when you get it is exactly what you want.
Price $135.00 delivered to the lower 48. Add another $20 if you want the sheath.

The Specifics:

Steel: Aldo’s 1084 to a Rockwell 59
Overall Length: just a bit over 10 inches
Blade: to the ricasso is 5 inches
Blade height : 1 5/8 inches
Handel Length: 4.75 inches
Handel width: a bit over .75 inch
Material: Snake Wood to a very high luster
3, 3/16ths Brass pins
File work by the bottom of the guard where it meets the blade so when it is inverted to skin (the Buffalo) your thumb does not slip.
False upper edge.

Thanks for looking and comments are always welcome.

Comments always appreciated, Ken

Nice work! I like how (don't know the terms) above the handle top and bottom ramp up parallel to one another then dip down.

Real nice!!

I am curious, how old is that old one?

Not really sure. No makers mark bone scales steel rivets well made though has a distal taper. I have seen pictures of knives from the middle 1800's and this seems to be like one of them. You have any idea?

I have no idea. You probably know more about it than I do.
