Buffing compound..shelf life?

I had two 3 lb bars of Matchless buffing compound dry up on me over the winter. Is there a way to preserve the compound so that it last longer? I guess more importantly, is there a way I can bring this stuff back from the dead, or am I just stuck with dried out compound? As always, your input is greatly appreciated. -Matt-

Put it in a Food Saver Bag and seal it up. Take it out when needed. This will keep it fresh longer and keep out the grit.

Thanks for the tip AC! Would a regular zip loc bag work? I don't have a food saver to pull a vacuum in the bag. -Matt-
