Buffing Precision Ground Tool Steel?

For those of you who finish your blades with a buffer and like the look of the grain that flows in the direction of the length of tool steel, what grit size is best to get it to show up the most without washing the grain lines out. Thanks.

I'd go green then white. Black will soften the grooves a little too much in my experience.
