I was trying to buff my latest knife blade and handle, an Enzo trapper AUS-08 stainless. I'm using some Trpoli compound and it says on the label for stainless mirror finish. I am getting a haze on the blade and handle, what am I doing wrong?
I am pretty new to this and this is only my 3rd knife.
Thanks
Chris

Tripoli is a pre-polish. Use green or white compound after the tripoli.

Second on Bill's advice. Better yet if ya got the wheels and the compounds, do the green and then the white and you'll be shaving in that puppy. Very attractive wood on the handle. What is it? You might consider putting a brass tube in the lanyard hole. I didn't on some a few years back and had some chipping problems.

Thanks guys. I knew it was something simple. The handle is a maple Burl, I didn't have any tubing and it was on back order, so I will be putting it in when it arrives.

Follow up the white and green with pink and you'll be good to go. The pink will help on the handle too. That wood is beautiful.

I know you didn't ask for advice so ignore it if you choose to, but this link might help with your handle. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/870361-Avoiding-the-dreaded-BLOCKY-HANDLE!

I read the BLOCKY-HANDLE thread. Yes, I am guilty of that. I will try to rework this handle, I have plenty of material left on it.:D

That handle looks much better, I think it brings out the figure more as well.

Mucho bettero. That is something I struggle with that and is something that will mess a knife up. Very nice knife.

Wow I've got to agree. Much svelter and it does bring out the figure. Very nice.

Wow! Massive difference! Good to see you got the thong hole tubing put in too, but is it a little charred around it from grinding, or is that just the wood and epoxy?

OK, the handle looks great.
The most important thing is, how does it feel to you? I find a lot of variation in where people want bulk- most folks like it in the little finger area, which is why most of us don't make "turd-shaped" handles :)
The bigger the hand, the more they seem to want bulk toward the end.
