I don't yet have a BOB, but if I did...which Becker would I leave in it? I have the 7,17, and 14 so I would choose the 7.

Of any Beckers, what knife do yall think would be the best BOB blade?

My vote would be for the 7 or 2 probably. The 2 is bombproof, which could definitely come in handy.

I'd take my 9 but in an urban environment, especially after a natural disaster, a strong case can be made for the 3. I love my nine and it hasn't failed at anything I've asked of it. But I've never asked it to pry open a locked door or hack through an interior wall to get to someone or something. I think the 3 might out shine the 9 in either of those scenarios.
I'm not saying that the 9 couldn't handle either but just that the 3 might be better suited.

I'm not sure how much of a consideration weight is for you. But, the weight difference between the 7, 9, & 3 is about 7oz. The 7 weighs about 13 oz., the 9 is just over 16 oz., & the 3 comes in at 20oz. I would hate to have to rely on a 7 to do the job of a bigger heavier knife just because it's a few ounces lighter.

As usual we each have to work through the most likely scenarios that we will face and make our own decisions.

GHB, and probably BOB would be BK-2. INCH would probably include more than one knife.

My pick would be the 2 since it's like the Chuck Norris of knives.
The 2 also goes nicely with the backup knives I keep in all my "get Home" bags and in my truck, the Mora.
With a 2 and a Mora, I could probably do anything I could possibly need a knife to do.
Plus I always have a 11, or 14 on me at all times.

I have a bob and I have the bk2 attached to it!

Nice bag! I'm itching to get a 2 now...and a 9...and whatever else I can find. I almost bought a 2 once but ended up going with a SOG Seal Pup I think just because the 2 was much thicker than I wanted at the time.

I EDC my 17 first production, and may start with my 14 again now that I've wrapped the handle and taken off the Zytel scales for now. Are there any 7 "torture tests" on here similar to what's done to the 2?

I agree there for sure. The 3 would definitely be a good choice for an urban environment.

The 3 would be a good choice for an urban environment... heck it would probably do well in a wilderness environment too. I was just recommending a blade to my brother in law for his bug out bag. He had a standard KABAR 1211 on it, but we did some trading and now its mine lol. This is my thought process.

The BK2 would be an obvious choice because it is almost bomb proof. If you wanted something that would last you I would say the 2.

I think a bug out knife should be able to process wood and other materials, hunting tasks, and be used defensively or offensively. (I am not a knife fighting advocate nor am I a knife is a weapon person, but if you are talking about bugging out having a blade that can do harm is a consideration. Honestly any sharp object can do harm, but its just about optimized designs... I hate talking about that lol)

The bk9/4 I think are a little big. I know weight and size are always a consideration, but the performance might be more important than ounces here.

The BK7 I think gets my overall vote. Its not small, its not big, its full tang, and not too heavy. It can process wood, and be deployed for other tasks including hunting. This was my recommendation to him also because being a marine he has experience with the KABAR USMC. The 7 is just a full tang upgrade in my opinion.

I also think you could easily add a Mora to your pack to better round you out for little to no weight. Or throw in a MT instead. I dont know if there is a right or wrong answer here but this is just my thought process. I do know that since I have been ducking tornados for the past 2 weeks, I had a bag packed and ready to go with supplies for my kids and wife in case we wouldnt have a home to come back to. I threw in a 9 and a 2, along with a few other things. For me the weight didnt matter, I just needed things in case.

Pretty much what I've been thinking. I've got my bag with my 9 & a Mora + an assortment of gear. I try to touch all the bases from water filtration to temporary shelter and enough food to get us out of town. At the same time I know that I need to keep it light enough that I can actually carry it for at least 15 miles non-stop.

That's something I need to work back up to since my accident. My current goal is to walk to the end of the street and back without assistance.

My 2 is in my truck where it stays. I gave up on the BOB and the zombie apocalypse BS. Now I carry my messenger bag with my 14. In my urban environment the 14 is all I really need.

Im starting to think that for a bug out or a get home bag, that a full tang hawk with a spike for urban demo kinda situations might be a good idea.
Knife wise, I think a Hawk and 16 would have you covered for an urban/get home kinda kit. Bug OUT bag maybe a boys axe a folding saw and a 16.

To me the BK2 is whaco over kill. I like the knife but its like rich chocolate, its just too much, but I stiil like it.

The three you already have are very good choices. I would put the 7 in the bag the 17 on your belt and the 14 also in the bag.

If you are looking for a good cheap bag go to the local Army Surplus store and you can pick up larg alice packs with a frame for less than 50 bucks. They are army strong and very well made. The only draw back to them is you may put too much gear in them which will wear you out when hiking. But its always nice to know you can put alot in there.

I agree the whole apocalypse thing is over done, hence the tornado example. Realistic problem... for me at least... What real preparedness is what you put on every day... I wouldn't feel naked with just a 14 either. Although I am partial to my 15, SAK Farmer, SAK Classic, Streamlight, and lighter combo. lol Or maybe a 14, Leatherman Wave, Al Mar Eagle HD Sak Classic and lighter combo... or maybe th...........

Not a bad idea as long as nothing really bad ever happens.

I thought the 2 was made for just such a scenario.
I keep a SYKCO War Dog on mine - it's like an INFI steel narrow BK16 that's as thick as a BK2.

If I had all that BOB BS with me when the the SHTF then I'll be the first person mobbed and killed (assuming I have to Bug out of someplace and its not my home). Better for me to have my small everyday items and some critical thinking skills than a bunch of extra sh/t.
