BUG OUT BAG Knives?

What knives are in your BOB? If you don't already have them in there, which ones would you take with you?

In my car a Cold Steel Kukri Machete and G.I. Tanto. By the door a Strider BT-SS and MFS. In my EDC ruck, Opinel #8 and SOG Power Pliers.

I don't have a bug out bag. I leave a couple of knives in my car, so those would be going with me if I were evacuating by car. A Benchmade Griptilian, Case Sod Buster Jr, and a Leatherman Pulse are current serving car console duty.

Ontario 18" military machete in one, Kabar large heavy bowie in another, and Mora companions in each

I have a RAT RC3(ESEE) and Leatherman Wave in my truck pack. I don't have a dedicated BOB but a room with my get out quick gear. Most of my knives are in there.

I have my BK21 ready to rock, attached to a pack. For hip carry its a tough decision between my TGLB and BG MOFO, whichever I can grab first I suspect will be the case. My Carothers field knife is coming along no matter what happens as its always carried.

Ontario SPAX, multitool, and a Ka-BAR. My trunk kit is mostly gear that works fine but moved on from. Its not particularly expensive so if something does happen to them, they're easily replaceable.

I'll make that judgement when the time comes. It's a fantasy. Even in an earthquake or hurricane, you can take some time to pack assuming your home is still standing. The one knife I know will be there is my Vic Adventurer and I would probably throw in a couple more Vics like the non-serrated One Handed Trekker, and a spare Adventurer. I will certainly include a machete with belt sheath. My bug out bag is not a bag at all but my vehicle. I have no intention of bugging anywhere. I do have moderate sized packs that would get included in the packed mix of things I would want to take with me, but the majority would be placed in 27 gallon plastic tubs with lids that I can stack. I might even take a Mora along and I generally don't really like them.

Couple of years ago I had to bug out, forest fire that got to within 50 yards of our house. I hadn't known anything about it, in fact both myself and wife were just returning from work. The police didn't want to let us into our home and we were given just a minute to grab stuff and leave, fast, to evacuate, our kids in our arms, literally. I didn't have any type of BoB in those days. We left with practically nothing. We would have been left with practically nothing. I've begun to repair that omission since. In any case living in a practically permanent war zone subject historically to surprise attack (Israel), a BoB being all you can grab and run with is far more of an urgent reality than some of the scenarios worried about by many of the prepper community. This said we as a family are still hopelessly unprepared, trusting to have some kind of notice to prepare. A mistake to be honest but with little spare cash to build up supplies in an incredibly tight economy, often you have to gamble on an empty hand and pray for more time to build up supplies.

In answer to the OP, I have a Bahco folding saw and a Leatherman Charge AL in the BoB plus whatever slipjoint is going to be in my pocket. Batoning or butchering are not part of a BoB reality in this part of the world and although I have two very nice fixed blades, they don't see the inside of my bag much.

I always have my edc items on me. In my car I keep a mora companion and a buck 110. In winter, I like to keep a fiskers hatchet also. Nothing fancy or expensive.

I often wonder too, especially for those whose Bug Out scenario includes war, occupation and becoming refugees (Europeans for example have spent centuries thinking this way, at least the more politically and historically conscious), how many are thinking of the effect of their knives might be on police and military, especially from opposing forces, whose immediate reaction to a knife which could be conceived to be a weapon would be immediate confiscation, arrest and/or shoot first and ask questions later. A well beat up and non scary cutting tool like a higher end SAK for example might give more of a chance in that kind of situation.
