We all know cool stuff is where you find it. I deer hunt with dry land wheat farmers, and yesterday while hunting I was asking about wrought steel. You know old wagons, that type of stuff. No one knew of any. Yeah right. Several hours later one of the guys shot a deer which fell down a deep draw. Down in the draw right next to where the deer landed was- you guessed it a buggy rim. Funny. So, once I cut and sand a piece what do I etch with to see any pattern (I hope) which may be present? The rim is about 1" wide and 1/4 to 5/16 thick and was probably about 4" dia, kinda hard to tell its egg shaped now. Thanks Jesse

Cut about 1/2 of the way through and then bend the cut open. If you see a kind of fibrous texture where it's bending and tearing, you know it's wrought.
