Bugout price

Yeah, they've gone up in price about 50% since their release 5 years ago, if I recall correctly.

The pricing is a little wild, I agree.

Benchmade knives are all overpriced. I do not think there is anything about any of them that justify their price

This isnt just a benchmade issue though. I think any USA made knife Is pushing th upper limit of what they are actually worth.

The only true indicator of whether any knife brand is "overpriced" is of their sales volume drops because of it. The manufacturer will then have to drop the price or drop the product.
But relatively speaking, I do tend to think BMs are priced quite high, and in my case most of them have after market scales which pushes the price even higher.
That said, I still believe BM makes a very good knife, and over the years have become fond of the axis lock.

In regularly see them on sale for closer to the $120 mark, IIRC. They are a lot of knife for under $150 now.
$161 is getting up there.

That is mostly inflation and our government is now talking about printing money to give to people to help them deal with inflation so it will only get worse.

I don't know...what is the value of something you can buy one time, enjoy the rest of your life and pass down to the next generation - and still be under warranty with free sharpening? My monthly cable TV bill is more than that!

I'd bet many of you have spent more than $161.00 on a night out of eating and drinking (not hard to do)

I looked and exactly one year ago I got a plain Jane bugout new for 145 dollars. So in one year it's a 15 dollar increase.

It's more the number that looks scary for some reason, I see it's about the price for a US made quality knife. For what the knife is, and competition out there, I see the bugout still priced in line with other offerings.

171$ for the ranger green bugout. I just bought mine a few months ago from bladehq for 148$. I can’t believe that it’s 171$ now. I love my bugout, but that’s entirely too expensive for what it is. I think I would spend the .50 cents more and get the pm2……….

I think the Bugout is one of the best manufactured folders ever made. The size, blade and handle shape, and weight are all perfect for what a folder should be. They even made the perfect short, deep carry clip for them. I enjoyed both the standard and mini for many years. Carried one every single day, and they were fantastic hiking and backpacking knives.
But I hate S30V. I could never get them quite as sharp as I wanted. Finally moved on to something else. I think if BM offered a version in a simple carbon steel, at a lower cost, they would sell boatloads of them. I'd buy multiples of those. But I doubt that will ever happen.

I have the Bugout and PM2. If I had to pick one it would be the Bugout. I find the Taggedout to be a closer comparison to the PM2. After a little break in, it snaps open and drops closed just like my PM2. If you like the Bugout you will love the Taggedout - that's what is in my pocket now. I only mention it because it is more or less an upgrade to the Bugout - size, blade shape and steel, but still super light. When I can get my hands on some Titanium scales for the Taggedout it's going to give my Inkosi a run for the money!

Owned a Bugout, wasn't for me and sold it. My para 3 in k390 is my most carried knife. One thing I do like about all my other axis lock knives is the ability to pull the lock and flick the blade out, but the balance of the Bugout just didn't work at all for that, blade didn't have enough weight or the balance was just off. Anyone else have that issue or was it just me?
