So a little while back, I purchased a Kalamazoo 2x72 grinder. For the money ($730), it's a great machine. However, the work rest is junk. The platen isn't great either. The work rest was bolted on with a single bolt that could be loosened to change the angle. This picture is actually from their 2x48, but the rest on the 2x72 looks exactly like this:
I eventually just removed the work rest and free handed everything, but I've come to the realization that a work rest is pretty handy. Any advice on building a better one? The mounting point for the work rest is a thick piece of sheet metal that's folded over (that also serves as the platen). I could drill a hole for a second bolt and maybe build something a little better, but I have no idea what others have done, so before I go re-inventing the wheel, I figured I'd check with y'all. Any thoughts?
