Will an empty 5gal propane tank work as the body for a forge? I searched here and google but found no answers. Thanks.

They work fine for a short forge.
Remove the the valve neck, rinse the tank out with soapy water, rinse well again, cut away. Don't worry about any residual propane,...... if rinsed out and the neck is not close there is no risk at all.
