My old shop is about 60 years old, it's not insulated, the roof leaks, there is almost no light, the ceiling is only 6.5 feet high,...

So, it was time to build me a new one...

Been working VERY hard together with my dad.

This is the space in my garden that I cleaned up to make space for my new shop.

Starting the build !

And I started building the walls on the inside of the shop. I'm gonna share this shop with my sister, who is a taxidermist. (great source for exotic hides and leather:cool: )

Overall dimensions of the shop: 26 ' long * 16' wide *10' high

I'm using YTONG aerated concrete blocks.

Please keep posting photos.
Interesting that you put old bricks and bits of concrete down as fill.

It's a good shop for sure! I hope you will have a wall between your sister's room and yours. Frank

Good job. I'd suggest painting the inside with dry-lock, depending on where you live and the average humidity. I used to work in an old milk parlor made of block and it stayed damp in there, but then I live in south Mississippi where it's about 85% humidity rite now.

Now, show some pics of it full of tools! Simple rule of thumb for shop size, build it twice as big as you think you'll need and it'll be about half as big as you realy need!

whats the plan for the large door opening? roll up? im envious, i just spent three days cleaning and revamping my little smithy lean to on the side of my parents house wishing for space to build a whole new one. it looks awesome! more pics please!

Ok, todays work:

Big garage door with a little door in the middle.

Don't mind the dust on the door. It just needs a good cleaning.

It's gonna be automated, but I haven't installed the motor yet.

NICE SHOP!!! :)

I'm a member on a general shop forum and they have an area just for threads like this. It's always very interesting to me to see how differently structures are put up in other parts of the world!!! :)

I love the finished overall look of the building... VERY nice! :)
