Built Like a Tank?

I hear that a lot about some folders, but what does that really mean? Why don't they just say overbuilt or thick liners and thick robust blade. As far as I know tanks have cannons and machine guns.

I don't know, I'm European but even I get the analogy between the two...
It's like "fast as a cheetah" or "strong as an ox" or...."dumb as a ...." :D

A knife built with tracks and encased in Chobham armour would be quite something to behold.

I'm not sure how many ounces about 60 tons is, but I'm confident you'll hardly notice it once you have it clipped in the pocket. :p

How about this one which i'm sure we've all heard aleast one time or another. She's built like a brick Sh%& house. So there are little cleshays for most anything.

In Soviet russia....you are clipped to the knife's pocket!

Interesting notion about Soviet Russia. There a "built like a tank" knife is probably in the very manageable T-72 weight class. Light enough even for nutnfancy to EDC!

Okay I think this is headed for W&C any minute now..I'll try to be serious. :D

Something solid, durable and rugged. Hmmm... makes me think Zero Tolerance. When I got my ZT 0500, first thing I did compeared it was Tiger I... Thick, robust, overbuilt, solid feeling lock and rugged (though Tiger I did suffered from gear problems :p).

There are many heavy duty folder's that might make you think tank/panzer but ZT is one line that has established reputation of hard using folders which applies I think all of its knives made so far.
