Hiya guys,
Does anybody know anything about the Bulldog Brand Knife Co.
I got a new catalog from them and need to know if they are for real.
They talk about using carbon steel and solingen steel in thier knifes. But I'm not too sure how good the quality would be in thier knives. Also, they talk about a knife being worth 100 bucks but they are going to sell it for 26 bucks . Makes me wonder if there is any quality there.
So, Does anybody have any experience with them ??
Does anybody have thier catalog. Are these knives really this good a buy ?
Help !!!

I have a number of Bulldog knives and I like them. In fact I am carrying one of their pearl handled cattle knives as I write this. I would say the quality of Bulldog knives is quite good...almost as good as Queen/Schatt&Morgan/Winchester but at lower prices, by and large, and light years better than Case, much less Schrade, Camillus, etc. Bulldog's selection of interesting handle materials is second to none. I am no metalurgist, but their "Solingen" carbon steel, which I would guess would be in the 1085-1095 range, takes and holds an edge in the "okay" range, in my experience...nothing great, nothing horrible.

I would say that these knives are a good buy for the money and many of them certainly are interesting and pretty. As far as what they are claimed to be "worth" I can make no comment. In my opinion, they are worth what Parker's, et.al., asks for them and that is enough for me.

The carbon steel Bulldogs are pretty good. I find Old Timers to hold a little better edge though. I stay away from the stainless steel Bulldogs. Some of them appear to be made by Case, and I don't like the Case stainless steel. :barf:

I'm pretty sure that the stag used on Bulldogs is not sanbar stag, but deer stag. Some knives have very pretty stag handles, some are quite ugly. You see a lot more variation in the quality of deer stag than you do in sanbar.

The fit and finish of Bulldogs seems to be model dependent. They get certain models consistantly near-perfect, while other models have some issues with the blades rubbing together.

Overall, Bulldog has a great line and some beautiful handle materials.
