Bulldog knives

This one is one of my favorites. The steel gets rusty easy, but I keep it clean and it serves me well.

911, do you have any pictures of vintage Pumas? I used to have a single blade years ago and really liked it. I'm curious to see some old ones.
Thanks,
Steve

The only Puma I have ever owned and still own is a Puma Sea-Hunter from the early 70's. One of their dive knives. The brand seems to have lots of fans.

OK---Just received the Bulldog lrg, Sodbuster. For a $25. knife, I have no complaints. F&F=very good. No blade wobble. Strong, solid lock-up. Hard to open and close the blade, though. The knife needs to be broken-in. I did take my Dremel and square the blade tang and the back-spring, where they meet when open. I am a perfectionist, though. Over-all, I'm very content with this Sodbuster by Bulldog! I would recommend one. Thanks.

Puma definately knows how to pick Stag for their knives.
I have always liked the bootknife

I have several bulldog knives - both older and newer models. Fit and finish is pretty good and pretty consistent on the ones I have, but I don't care for the super fat stag scales that much.

911 that small stag lockback is excellent.Any sources for these knives as I'm in the EU too.

Here are my 3 Bulldogs. The last one I got was the "2000" stockman.

I must be one of the few with bad experience with Bulldog knives. I bought a few several years ago from Jim Parker and the steel was awful. Wouldn't take or hold a good edge. Showed it to some industry insiders (makers, etc) and their verdict was the same.

Maybe it was just a bad batch of steel at the time.

I have run into the same thing. Getting them sharp wasn't a problem but keeping them sharp was. Larry

Guys, I use Japanese water stones, and pull backwards till a burr forms, then lightly buff it off. It works with all my knives. I hope this helps.

I have an '85 bulldog trapper. Very heavy duty knife. Great fit and finish. The steel is a little higher than most brands on the rockwell scale. It took a while to sharpen but is shaving sharp and holds the edge well.

Bulldog stag Sunfish w/etch...

No complaints on this knife.
Yes, a bit of a novelty item but great stag, etch with good color, chunky, and tight blades! :D
