I purchased a good sized piece of bullet wood at the Oregon Show a few weeks ago. I've never heard of it and can't find any information about it on line. I'd appreciate any information and the real given name. It was pretty cheap and I just could resist buying it. Thanks!

Very beautiful wood! I have a bunch of it. It's freaking heavy (meaning hard)

Its patterns are pretty much left unseen until wiped with mineral spirits.

Good chance I'll be trying a piece of it tomorrow. It sure doesn't look very interesting as it is now. Looks aren't everything, just ask me.

Left to right: regular piece of bullet wood, bullet wood wiped with mineral spirits, bullet burl :D

The far left looks blank, and the middle is from the same board, so it darkens similarly with mineral spirits.

The piece I have is more of a dark reddish brown. I'll post a picture of the knife when it get it done.

Hey Ray, get this one done yet?????

:) :)

Almost. This wood is very tough and hard but I care not for the color. Instead of a red head it will be a brunette. This is the natural color. Its been sanded down to 600 grit and gone over once with syn. steel wool. Nothing else has been applied.
