Finished putting a handle on the WWII valentine day gift blade. I know I made some mistakes on it,but it feels good in my hand ,so far I like it. Now I have to begin the laborious task of convexing the blade, and deciding whether I want a kydex or pvc sheath.

Great job, TW. Very nice.

Is that aluminum or steel on the guard & butt? I'm starting a coupla khuk handle projects as well. I got some aluminum blocks cuz they're cheaper & easier to work than nickel/steel. Bought a table saw yesterday & got blades that will cut metal & fossil whalebone & all the exotic stuff I'll be using. Hope my stuff comes out as good-looking as yourn!

Thanks Wildmike,it's the best for shock absorption.

Ugly Duck- Hard to tell because of my poor photo-fu ,but the guard and pommel piece are solid brass.

Thanks Kismet! Ugly Duck I just happened to have some 1/4" scrap brass that I thought might work.

Nice work , TW.... it looks fantastic.
What are the bumblebee spacers made of?

i love that handle..

+1

Your combination of the thin yellow & black spacers contrasted to the rich brown washers is a delight to the eye and the overall effect makes it totally unique.

With the choice of a WWII blade I bet this Khuk will have a sting in more than its tail! :D

Its such an inspiration to a non-handiman like myself that I will be trying to shark a plem blade to undertake a similar project. ;)

Bonkers,it's a tedious process, but the result is worth it to me. Thank you for your kind words and I look forward to the results of your efforts.

TWBryan's leather handles are always a pleasure to see

If I ever need to make or replace a khukuri handle, I already have it in my head - stacked leather like TWBryan makes, but with a sculpted brass hilt similar to the Bhairab/Kopis.

It's just too good.:D

Come to think of it... that would look groovy on my 26" Chitlangi...

Thanks Wolf,I appreciate it. Stacked leather works well, takes longer to build, but I think it's worth it.

Taking longer to build only sweetens the deal for me. I love long projects.

My war clubs average about four weeks each and I'll often spend hours flaking out a single flint or obsidian knife blade.
