honestly, as an owner of a real 777, i would say get it IF it is way cheaper (say $350 / $375) than the original 777, because :

(a) you will use it more than the other one (no way i will ever EDC that one)
(b) since this is not a well known fact maybe production numbers will not be that high, which will be cool too

(C) it still be more original than the Microtech Matrix / mini matrix (sorry i just had to!!!)

bugger, 2 years i saved that 500 bucks x.x [I'm partial to damascus, and that was a good 50% of my <3, it was my cake, and the rest the cherry :p so definitely a bumming moment for me] Thanks for the heads up, i guess info is better than no info. I was actually thinking they would go with a plan they had a while ago about using m390 in the blade as the composite medium. I did read it caused a weird blackening issue, so figured if it worked they may have coated it to cover the weird effect, while still having the composite to work. I guess one can dream now lol

It'll be fine. Just an unfortunate turn of events with production, for which they had to make other arrangements.

:)

That's unfortunate news. I'll admit that a lot of the draw for me of the ZT0777 was the composite blade. The damascus is simply gorgeous on this knife. I'd be interested in seeing what a complete M390 blade looks like, but I don't know if it would look as good. The ZT0770 is supposed to be a similar knife, but even the CF version doesn't look nearly as nice as the ZT0777.

On a related note, if the blade is no longer composite, then why not introduce the ZT0777 as part of their permanent lineup?

I wonder what's the heat treat is going to be like. A knife like this should be at least 60 to do the M390 justice. That would make up for the non composite a little.
