Bummed out!

Not to rain on anyone's religious beliefs or prayer service but maybe some donations of knives or other gear that we're not using that Harp could sell and make a few bucks would be a more tangible relief idea? Harp, are you going to be able to draw unemployment? Are you going to be able to make it a while doing that and searching for a new job? Give me some details. If you don't want to do this publicly then drop me an email at jeff@jungletraining.com

If you guys decide to go with this count me in. I have more then a few to spare.

Harp, where are you located if you dont mind me asking. Maybe some of us could help with locating work. If you dont feel comfortable telling all of us, you can PM me. I am in central florida, orlando area. Work in the medical field.

God Bless and will put you on our church prayer list.

I got fired because my employer blew out both my hips. They didn't fix them and suggested I go begging to the VA hospital in hopes that somewhere 2 years down the road if Obama gives back their funding and they somehow miraculously catch up with their years-long waiting list they will pay for my weekly dose of pain killers. My favorite pasttimes are road biking, mountain biking, speed skating, cross country skiing, backpacking, freediving... you get the picture. The only one I can still do anymore is backpacking, and that is on the good days. Life sucks sometimes but you have to look for the good in things, otherwise you will die from a stress related illness way too young after living an unhappy life. I've been unemployed for 8 months now, after 500+ applications with an honorable discharge, cherishing my bottles of arthritis meds and living off of idaho potatoes, but can honestly say I am at one of the happiest points in my life. Why? Because I take those good days and make em count. I still put on more backpacking miles than anyone I know, just yesterday I hiked up to 5500 feet to do some varmint hunting, snap some photos and relieve some mental stress. Keeps me in shape too. I recently found an expensive and gear intensive alternative hobby, but I don't have to stress my hips and I get to see country I could never see on foot-whitewater rafting. Things will turn up, but more importantly stay positive.

Well today was the last day. I want to say thank you to everyone for your support and good wishes. Prior to my wife being layed off, they cut her hours. They told her that her position was not in jeopardy, but that they needed to makes cuts until their budget was approved. As it turned out they did eventually lay her off and it drastically lowered her quarter that the Employment Developement Dept. used to determine her weekly allowance. It's disheartening to say the least. I'm sure I will be able to draw unemployment, however I need to work, as Unemployments not going to pay bills and feed 5 kids.

Really to hear about that :(. Prayers and hoping a job comes along quickly for you.

Wow that sounds like a employer scam. I may be wrong, but don't they have to pay part of the unemployment benefits ? If they reduced her hours knowing they'd be paying her unemployment benefits later, shouldn't there be a review of what she's allowed ?

My apologies if I'm way off base on this.

Unemployment pays enough for a single person to live alone in a 1 room apt. w/out utilities and eating dollar menu once a day.

I got laid off by the company I worked for about 3.5 months ago. And I have been working part time for a movie theater and doing PC Repair from home. Not the best in the world, but it keeps the $$ flowing until I can get back on track. But Guess who called me last week wanting to set an interview for tomorrow? My old employer is who, and they said there is a new project they want me to be in on and it would look well on me if I took the offer.

Considering the last project I worked on for them, with a dozen others, won them a big contract then they told me to hit the road I am wondering if I will take the offer when the time comes. I probably will considering it will do more good for the family than not.

Swallowing the bitter taste in your mouth and supplying for your family is being more a man than telling them to screw off.

Depends on your state. Some states it's not even enough to do that.

Good luck and all the best to you bud. I can relate. My wife was laid off from two companies in the last 1 1/2 yrs. I was on a short list back in Dec where I work (in telecommunications). The good thing is that my company has learned from previous lay-off situations and wanted to keep as much talent as possible so they decided to try to re-deploy people by giving us 3 months to find something within the company. Luckily I found another position in Jan but since then there have been two more rounds of lay-offs that I thought I'd get hit on. Luckily not, and thankfully my wife starts a new job around Oct 16th.

I will be in prayer as well for God's Will to be done in all of this.

Sometimes we go through things for Him to put us in a different place. I am not sure why things happen the way they do; look what Job went through. All we can do is thank Him for the blessings we do have right now, like our health and other material resources He has given us.

One a side note I am VERY IMPRESSED with this forum and how the people here are genuine in the interest and care for each other and how Mr. Randall is putting prayers into action by stepping in and doing something.

We don't want to be like the biblical example of saying "be warm and well fed" and walk away without doing our part (praying and giving).

What people fail to remember is that God uses us to help each other as well, He does provide the miracle, but sometimes He provides that miracle through others.

If you read the last pages and verses of Job you will see how his family and friends gave him earrings of gold and money. This is how Job got back part of his blessing, God doubling and giving back much more than he had lost. You don't really hear the teaching at the end of the chapter, but that is how God works, just like His Word says. You have to have something to start with. Either with the money or with someone giving Job two goats to start with God blessed that and it increased.

I pray now that what God gives you now be multiplied to meet all the needs for yourself, wife, children and household, in Jesus' (Yeshua's) Name, Amen.

I don't normally disclose my business, but I'm really upset. Two weeks ago my wife got layed off from her job. She was a director for a non-profit organization. I told her we would just have to tighten our belt. I work for a private Pharmacy as a sales representative. Well Friday my boss who is also the owner tells me he sold his pharmacy to a large chain. Tomorrows my last day. We are a family of seven. Please add my family in your prayers guys. We appreciate it.

you will be ok.
your family will gain in this process.
remember conservation of matter and energy?
