I've been waiting since August for my birthday present ..
a right and left hand cutlass from Cold steel.

the right hand arrived back in november, the left
arrived today and the scabbard is moldy and the
brass is corroded .. :-( bummer ..

the swords them selves are in great shape .. so bummed waiting so long ..

oh well ... I ordered them from http://www.knifecenter.com/ so the wife will call them
tomorrow (she bought them for me is she a keeper or what !!!!!)

I'm not sure I'm seeing everything in the pictures but in case you are unaware brass hardware tends to tarnish and look dirty and what I've seen in my leather sheaths in the past with brass grows green gunk sometimes on the brass. I usually just clean up the brass with something like flitz polish and that keeps it at bay for a long while.

if you just bought it from them and it came just like that then cant you just return it for one that is brand new??

funny how I put this on the cold steel forum and they moved it
here in a matter of minuets ,, it's not like I was flaming them ...
guess they don't want something negative on their site

First this is the proper section of the site for a thread like this. Second as I see your two choices are either deal with the dealer or the manufacturer. Though I fail to see any real problem, may just be the pics.

H_Talon - this is the first I've seen of this thread (though I have been busy uploading images all day). I certainly haven't moved anything...
My advice would be to speak to the people you bought it from first and foremost. From there, talk to our customer services team.
It's hard to tell from the images, but it looks like the fittings are just a little tarnished. This can be polished out.

contacted http://www.knifecenter.com/ their response ... you can send it back and when we
get another one well send it out ... I ask when will you get another one ... their response ..
we don't know it might be three or four months ... so I ordered in July waited this long to
get it and now I'd have to wait XXX amount of months more ... I have been a follower
of the knife center for years... I think they just "Screwed the pooch" on this one and they
can pucker up to my tush ...

as for the pic's yep I take terrible pictures but having been in the military there is a
difference between tarnished and corroded ... tarnished can be polished out corroded eats into
the metal ... but on the other hand .. what do I know ??? I'll have the wife do some pic's
in the next few days ...

If you're half as antagonistic in your emails to them as you are in this thread, it would probably be best if the item was returned, you refunded and sent on your way.

Yep you got the best wife possible. Gets ya what ya want. Returns it for ya. Takes pics for ya....If she's a looker too.....you couldn't have done any better. Wish I could say the same bout my wife.

yep she is a sweetheart, she just recently bought me an 44 automag, and she is the one who bought me the swords for my birthday back in august ... Yep I'll keep her

better pic's ( yep the wife took them

the white stuff is mold, the green is verdigris (copper corrosion) the white/green on the copper
rivets is heavy corrosion, figured since the wife took the pic's I'd post them ,, sorry if they disturb y'all ...
