Hi uncle: --- Bura is making the Ganga Rams which I seem to think is excellant. -----I have one on order. --What are the chances he can make 15" or 18" Ang Kholas? Horn or wood handles. My 18" Banspatis are outstanding and the engraving is superb !!! ---Let me know, maybe I will ask for an order.

Bura can make anything! He is one of the best kamis I've ever seen and has tricks he routinely uses that are innovative and that work wonders with a blade.

If you want him to make something we will let him know and he'll do it.

Blessings from Anamnagar and Suryabenai!

That said, I'm not sure loading him personally down with orders is a great idea. He's shop foreman, we also want him passing on those skills so the whole business doesn't dry up and wither away as the "old masters" go.

Namaskar Uncle Bill. I have a wish list that is growing by an alarming rate. Number 1 on that list is a Ganga Ram special. I know that Ganga Ram is not making them any longer but the shape and size are an artfoem unot themselves. If bura could make it that would be a true honor, if they are still being made availible to those who joined the HI Club after the the list was closed.

Bura is making all the Ganga Ram Specials now that Ganga has returned home. He is also making the kothimodas but he still has time to produce a few other models. He and his apprentice can produce about 15 khukuris per month on average.

It is a joy to see this man work. He is a great kami.

Bill,

Is Bura marking his blades yet? Have you revisited this idea with the kamis.

Perhaps only the kamis that have Kami Sherpa's approval as "masters" should mark their blades. That might give the others something to work towards, and another incentive to produce only the very best they can. On the other hand it might cause dissention, so consider this idea carefully.

I, for one, support Howard's idea of having the masters mark their blades. In the past, this idea was discussed at length, but nothing came of it. But I still like the idea and would like to see it come about.

Uncle Bill,

I hate to mention it but when you said Bura can make anything I have to ask.

Super Salyan!

This will be felling khukuri.

Will

:
Will,I thnk you will find the Ganga Ram style blade will be better than the Super Salyan for a felling khukuri.
The Salyan makes a good splitter though!

Khukuri FAQ

Jay, your order is in he works. Will, yours too. We may have to assign another helper for Bura to do some of the pounding, buffing, polishing, etc. Also, Bura's nephew is doing the engraving on his blades now and if you can believe it his engraving is better than Bura's.

We will start marking the blades today. We will have to use a symbol which will represent the various kamis. Our problem is everybody is named Bishwakarma. As a result we have four KBs and the only way to differentiate between the four is by using symbols. I will, of course, have a key to the symbols which I'll post and provide for all.

We are finally going to get it done.

Blessings to all from Anamnagar and Suryabenai.

Uncle Bill and Rusty

"Good" is that all you have to say Rusty, I think..

Yipee!!!!!

would be more appropriate.

Yvsa, I'm why do you think the Ganga Ram style is a better felling khukuri than a Super Salyan. Since I have not handled either I will defer to your experience.

I started a new topic so we can keep this one on course.

Will
