Bura has saved the old files and recently got them converted to what he calls the Bura "Reti" (file) khukuri. It's about 16 inches and weighs only 11 ounces -- fastest khukuri in the world. Excellently done, exceeds all HI specs. About 1 inch wide and 1/4 inch thick. I love these knives.

As you can see above file hatchmarks clearly visible. All have horn handle with kobra style buttcap.

Material cost is not high, shipping not expensive due to light weight, so Pala said sell these for $49.95 + $5 shipping for total of $54.95. Send $55 and I'll include a nickle rebate to make things easy. Pala does not have to deal with the nitty gritty like I do.

Call or email. I have about a dozen.

That weighs less than a K-bar, I really want one. I honestly think my parents would be pissed if I bought another Khukri though.

But I'll hafta check back later. Tapped fer cash.

In theory, that file steel should be much harder than the standatd khuk steel, and would probably take a wicked edge and bre noce n hard...

I looked at this thread twice and successfully resisted the urge. The third time was too much for me though. Email has been sent.

Bill,

I'm a sucker for anything light that carries on the belt easily and is made by HI. Email sent on this one - hope there is still one left.

By the way, the Bura 20 inch 22.4 ounce sirupati you sent me during the half price sale has jumped to be my favourite khukuri - then again they all do that until I buy another one - bloody terrible HI virus. I'm waiting for an older model chandan handled 20 inch sirupati that I bought from John Powell to arrive and then I'll put up a comparison on the Cantina.

Will there be more of those some other time?

Have to restrict my outflow of cash for the moment. But later I would like to get one.

Can they make them longer? Like 18-20 inches or something? Not long enough files maybe?

Uncle Bill,
If that last Reti's still available I'll take it.

I'm broke right now, but let me tell you:

I have a 17" 14 once Chainpuri made by a guy that didn't make the grade. Mistakenly marked HI. Also got a 17" 20 ounce Chainpuri, same story. Mistakenly marked HI. Truly villager stuff. I wouldn't let them go without mking clear they were not HI. Matter of fact, I wouldn't let thenm go except for a preposterous price. The heavy one is my user khuk. The light one is being worked on as it's a dedicated fighter on the order of the Bauchop Alleycat that is my one and only custom knife.

17" X 14 ounce feels unreal so you should be able to imagine a 16" X 11 ounce Bura. Actually, no, you probably won't be able to imagine it.

If you've got the money grab them. Make that grab two!

You'll regret missing this if you can get the money and don't. :( :( :(

Uncle Bill,
The blade on these seems thin like the Kobras. I assume that means the breakage warranty doesn't apply like the Kobras?
