I have been a fan of Burch's work since I found him over on JerzeeDevil...always thought it was classy stuff....then the B.U.S.K. came out and I was done for.
I immediatly tried to get it from him but i was unable to. No money and no trades I had struck his fancy...this was Two years ago. I have followed his progression and wondered if i would ever be able to get one of his fine knives before he became to far out of reach....
well, guess what...I GOT ONE! ( in a super roundabout way) not just any one either...the ONE that started it all for me...and not just a model of it...the REAL ONE I TRIED FOR FROM MR. BURCH.
guess persistance can pay off
well here is a review from me to you all.
specs
L6 steel
.25" thick
6.75" cutting edge
7" from front finger choil to butt
6.25" from micarta front to rear
First impressions:
this knife is heavy, and it should be. This knife was designed to be a hard use do all type blade. The balance point is right at the beginning of the micarta handle. With the balance point here i find the blade moves effortlessly in my hand.
the grinds are near perfect and the finish is damn good (gunkote black) for being used by its previous owners. Light wear is really all there is.
this is my first knife in L6 and being used previous to my getting it was fairly dull. I put it on my spyco 204 and had it to hair popping after some work. So soon i will be able to tell about its edge retention and cutting ability. I have only cut paper ques and arm hair so no real cutting test by any means.
the unique handle design makes it a very versitale knife indeed. Burch put alot of though into the design of it. Its length and multiple holds allow you to use three grips comfortably.
The kydex sheath it came with is sturdy enough but it needs leather....it just screams for black leather pants.
Overall. This knife is mine...all mine. and no, you cant play with it.
enough rambling so far...on with the pics...cutting pics soon....like this weekend..
