Burger Knives Exkelibur MK1

HiltonP,I think I'm gonna go with it just like this one:
SCurve-1-G10-open.jpg

That way,I'll have like a "matched" pair, and as much as I like his fancier models,I like the "user" grade, for EDC.If you see this, can you tell me,what is the time difference from South Africa, from the Eastern U.S. ?
Thanks in advance,
Vince

it's nearly 18:00 here now in old europe, and probably almost the same in SA.:)
If you give a call to Barry, ask him how he is progressing on the "large" exke :D

Vince and others, thanks for sharing your knife info and pics with us. This only furthers our obsessions and whets our appetites for more knives. Vince, now you can ship me that monster Lum Encounter since she does'nt really go with those other pretty little knives.

LOL! Breadman knows me all too well ! Not to change the subject on this thread, but when I get my Small Seki Lum,mid to end of Dec.,someone's gonna get a good deal. That full size encounter is awesome in the hand! I'm afraid though, that it is a bit big for my nieghborhood.

7 hours Vince. You guys are 7 hours behind us, so if you're reading this over your 7am first cup of coffee in NY then it's 2pm here (and we've already had 7 cups of coffee!).

Hi ,

I believe I have a 'true' Mk 1 ; slip "square" joint , black G10 , 440 C drop point , no liner , thong hole , very hollow ground (and very sharp) blade , etched "EXKELIBUR" in an arc above a sword.

When I bought it, it was the first knife with G10 I had ever seen then (maybe in 1996??? not sure...)

The knife is very light , very flat , has a strong 'snap' and is a perfect fishing knife !

ELDE,I'd love to see that, can you post pictures here?
BTW,I could not stand just looking at the picture of the recurve model,I sent the E-mail,to Barry.

Sorry , I don't have pics. Only crap scan and a poor drawing...

Could send you by e-mail.

Here is ELDE's slipjoint older version,Nice!I like the bladeshape, and I like slips, and I like the lanyard tube, when it comes to knives,I like alot!
Thank's for adding to the thread ELDE.
Vince

i honestly prefer the new blade version of the Exkelibur, old one look like the U2 blade (nice also.... but i prefer new one !:D )

Freddy,I'll go along with you,on the modern version,is more appealing. But if I saw ELDE's knife,at the time of conception,I'd think that that was a great knife, too.I also look at some knives, and say,if you only had one knife, and that was the one(any knife could be an example, and apply),that would be a great knife to have.It is nice to see how some makers models, evolve. That would be a great topic ,for another thread.

it looks like a bit like big brother of U2... the TK4:D

amazing knives!
The damascus ones are a bit "too much" for my personnal taste (saying that from pictures...luckily i do not handle them, otherwise i would have to buy one straight !:D )
Is it an illusion or the Exca with carbon handle is slightly bigger than the other?

Do you received you recurve Burger already, the one you were thinking about bying some weeks ago?
If so, what do you think about?
any review is welcolm !:D

Freddy,
The recurve is still in the making, soon though. These knives were in the "available inventory",at the time I was inquiring about the progress of the recurve.I could not resist, and yes,I'm not too big on Damascus either, but the Swiss ss Damascus,I could not resist.I plan to carry them, not every day of course, but in EDC rotation.I think the ExK is the same size, just the pic angle.
Barry assured me,those photo's were crude, and the knives in person,I would like.
They should be in this coming week.
Vince
PS - Freddy - The wood handle slip I mentioned in the other thread,Eric Parmentier, not Bignon. So ,now you've got me looking at yet another maker from abroad,LOL!
