Have an opportunity to buy one of these for an absolute steal, meaning under $250:

I'll need a converter to run it on normal 220v but i can get a static converter that will do just fine for 1.5hp for less than $150.

Mine will come with 4 jacobs chucks and two 50X tapmatic heads...i figured i could sell those and re-coop the cost of the machine if necessary.

Any reason to not go for this? I know this thing isnt small...im expecting 500 pounds? More?

Talk me out of it...id be picking this thing up tomorrow otherwise.

I haven't got one, probably never will get one, but I think they are just super !!!!! What's the price of one good drill press? I believe it's a bargain and a machine any folder maker, especially liner locking maker, would find very "handy" to say the least. Frank

I wouldn't talk you out of it.

I wouldn't sell those tapping heads either.

Keep them, put a different sized tap in each one, handy as heck

Well now, Count, I sure might be able to use one of those tapomatics if the price was right. Frank

David: I have had a couple and they are quite inaccurate. with all of the moving parts...they are just plain sloppy. Now...the two tapping heads may be worth it if you make screw together knives.....

Ugh I hope it's not too sloppy. I still have a milling machine for precision but I've gotten so sick of changing collets between milling and drilling operations and thought this would bridge the enormous gap between my Bridgeport and my 10-year old 100$ cheapo drill press that barely drills a round hole....

I'm torn and will simply have to see how it works out. If its crap quality-wise I'm confident I can take the tapping heads off and still get my money back.....

Your post was the first I've heard of them being sloppy, though.....

I have a smaller version of this drill press. Mine is not sloppy at all, has great runout and I use it all the time.
