Well. Surprise, surprise.

Apparently, your old Uncle OldPhysics has been deemed to be "working too hard," "trying to solve everyone's problems," and "pushing too hard, too fast."

The upshot? Your federal government has ordered me to "relax." Literally ... ordered.

I'm not entirely sure what they mean by this, and I am confused to hear the federal government asking for "less."

The upshot is, no week-end and night-time work for Uncle for quite some time. Fewer exhausting "little trips." Probably a little more "preventive medicine."

Guess I really will be making it to Blade this year.

[Our tax dollars. At work ... but not too hard.]

My pops got the same orders after he was hospitalized a little over a week ago urinating blood and with pneumonia. Glad he got them too, because I can't have him keeling over anytime for the next 30 years. :D

Good to hear you'll be relaxing, J. Hope you really do relax. Watch some films you've been meaning to watch; read a few good books; fondle some INFI; and spend time with the fam.

You know what's important.

Thats great news Jamie, now you take their advice and get some good rest cause your gonna need it at Blade!!!

Hope this isn't some new government plot, OP! Actually, though, I think slowing down and conserving your health is never a bad idea. Time to stop and smell the infi! :D ;)

It took them a number of years to figure it out but they must have finally realized that your through the looking glass precognition makes the rest of them look silly by comparison. Hope you enjoy it!

Less work , no pay-cut = HEAVEN. Of course , as you well know, be careful of the government,,,,,,, and enjoy your well earned lessened work load!!!!!!!!!!!

It's about time ...you get time ...to enjoy time!:D

so what time is it? ...knife time.

:rolleyes:Actually, I'm just another tired, gray-haired fogie.:o

It's hard to see things going wrong, and not try to do something. This used to be called "duty."

Still, I'm accustomed to following (legal, moral, ethical) orders ... so I will obey. To the best of my limited ability.

Now ... off to lunch with my dearly beloved. And tonight -- a movie!!!:)

Good deal OP! I think maybe you worked like you were in the Olympics.:foot:
You know how that makes some people feel.;)

Time to start practicing for retirement. :)

It's good to have a bit of time off and just do nothing, or whatever you damned well feel like doing. I keep getting emails from personnel telling me I have accrued too much leave time and I had better take some or else horrible things will happen to me or something.

Put your feet up, relax, who knows, you might even get to like it. :D

Wow OP....I read the first bit and thought you were getting laid off ....glad it's not the case and that your employers are actually showing a bit of appreciation for all the hard work:thumbup:

Now that does make a change!! Make the most of it:thumbup::)

Let's Drink!! :cool::D

Glad to see you are getting a break. That means my tax dollars are being used efficiently SOMEWHERE (meaning they know when to give their best a break)!!

We owe ya brother!!

I don't know. Am I the only one that translates that suggestion as "kiss of death" ?

Hmm. I don't know. I've worked ... just worked ... and rather intensely for over 40 years now. I don't know if I'm good for anything else, really.

I have a hard time sleeping, because my mind doesn't really shut off anymore. Always thinking through problems and potential solutions. I'll often wake up with a ready answer, or a potential answer, demanding immediate documentation. A problem or an issue comes by, I snap it up by reflex and then work until it's solved.

Still, the suggestion is probably a good one. I'll give it a try. Even if I can never "retire," surely I can find a different way to contribute ... at a different pace.

As to being "let go" -- never happen.:) They just don't want to burn me out prematurely. They have uses for me ... and for people like me ... that will never, ever end.:o And to be honest, I suppose I also have "uses" for them -- what would I do with myself, really, without those thorny problems to solve?

Sometimes, that single thought makes me sweat.
