Whoops.

Ha ha! I just knew I'd get caught out...! My intention was purely poetic painting! Don't worry, I get teased at work because I wear 'girly' shirts... Gender is a role with fluid boundaries and I embrace that idea! (Claude Cahun is a bit of a hero to me :-)

Nice knife BTW, is that the calico bone? And cute puddy tat too :-)

No problem, t'all-- it made me laugh. :) The rustic finish definitely is rugged-looking, the more so in the larger knives.

Having and loving a #25 bullet jack, the finish on which was the draw, I just thought I'd counter your broad stroke. :D (The #25's size does offset the boldness of its visual statement somewhat, I think? Not that I wouldn't like one of the larger knives as well, nor do I mind "man's knives.")

On the Bullet Jacks, I believe it is/was simply, "Smooth Bone"...? If I recall correctly, it was the only bone option in the run, with stag and dark or light cocobolo being the other choices.

It looks like unpolished Calico. Or Rough Cut. Or Frontier. Or _________. (I've seen similar bone in various other runs o' knives, with different names.)

Whatever it is, I like it.

I would love a Burnside Jack with a bellied clip blade (got already too many spear points)...
Yes,a full flat clip like on the Straight Jack would be nice, though I do like the swedge & rough finish on the Burnside spear.

nice looking knife but i agree, i'm not crazy about the angle of the blade to the handle, plus they have alot more stag than bone. not warming up to the stag yet.

My Burnside arrived in the morning mail. I haven't had an opportunity to put it to proper use yet. But I'm already a very happy camper. I'll give it a good workout over the next month and post some patina pics.

Initial thoughts: best stag I've handled yet. Excellent ergonomics for my hand. Very solid feel. Opens smoothly with half-stop. Very solid sound when closed. Screams quality.

It's my second Northwoods with a third on the way. Very pleased customer.

I could see myself with a Calico Bone version....but funds are tight at this time of year:eek:

One to keep an eye out for:thumbup:
