What size idler wheel does the 960272 take with A 14" contact wheel?

tony you will have to use a two to five inch wheel at the top to get it to work

for the belts to come on and off easy
you will need a 1 1/2 " idler
you can purchase it from bader with a 5/8 shaft

if the spring is to tight for you
you can modify it
