I had to give a big thank you to Burt Foster of Bristol, Virginia and recommend you check out his work at www.burtfoster.com -

I ordered two knives from Burt - he gave me a start and completion date estimate and told me he would call for a materials deposit when he started work on them. He contacted me as promised for the deposit, and finished the knives on time. I paid the balance on completion and he shipped them right away.

I ordered a set - a camp knife and a hunter - and to say I am pleased is an understatement. They are beautiful, and do they ever CUT. You won't be sorry if you choose a Foster.

Burt is a great guy - helpful from the outset ensuring I knew all my options and offering his opinions when asked - constantly working to ensure I was happy with the end product. And boy howdy was I ever!

I have had both good luck and bad luck with some custom makers over the years - but without reservation Burt Foster joins Charles May and Gene Ingram on my list of all time greats.

Two thumbs WAY up because that's all I got!

Exactly what I found out with the two I ordered from him.

Impressed me enough to get back on his waiting list again for another
knife from him

Ditto on the request for pics- or at least, how about descriptions, materials, etc. ??? I had a very good impression of Burt and was glad to read about his great finish at Blade. I am also on his waiting list so it is good to hear the positive comments! More details would sure be nice for those of us still waiting, though! Also, any suggestions from those who have received their knives from Burt?? (For example, I have heard that he really likes to make the "butts" thick on his handles- are yours? Do you like them?) Enjoy your knives!
