Here is a rare opportunity to acquire an exceptional matched set from one of the very best bladesmiths out there - Master Smith Burt Foster.

Specs on the knives:

* Handles of California buckeye burl;
* Blades of forged 52100 carbon steel ;
* Dimensions (blade length / overall length) - big bowie : 9 1/4" / 14 1/8", little bowie: 5 1/8" / 10" ;
* Dual finish on the blades - hand rubbed satin finish on the blade flats, mirror polished on the spine and underside of the ricasso;
* Spine and underside of the ricasso rounded - not flat - for greater comfort;
* Guards / ferrules crafted from two-bar twist damascus, heat blued;
* Three domed pins securing the full hidden tang.

Notice that the blade profile on the small bowie / clip point hunter closely matches that of the lager kinfe. Even though it is about half the size, the lines, proportions and overall flow translate well into a compact package. This is an exceptionally versatile "little" knife

Here we can see a close-up of the blued damascus fittings on the smaller one:

And on its big brother:

Both knives bear Burt's traditional date stamp with the year of manufacture bracketing the master smith stamp. I think this is a terrific feature as it creates a historical record that forms an indelible part of the artifact itself.

One of the real treats that come with every Burt Foster knife (apart from the superb fit and finish for which he is renowned) is an absolutely top quality custom sheath crafted by the maker to complement the knife. As with the knives, the sheaths closely match.

It should go without saying that the knives are in mint, as-new-from-the-maker condition. Neither has been used or carried.

Price on the big bowie is US$1,250

Price on the little bowie is US$650

Or you can take the pair US$1,800

Prices inclusive of insured shipping anywhere in the US or Canada. Elsewhere at additional cost.

First "I'll take it / them" via e-mail is what I'll go by.

Thanks for taking a look.

If I was to grade this listing on all counts, I'd give it a 10 of 10. That's how to write a sale. :thumbup:

Best of luck.

It's good to know that you're happy with the bowie, although it really doesn't surprise me, as Burt does some great work. :) :thumbup:

I couldn't agree more. :thumbup:

And there's something I would like to point out: Roger was daring enough to include <:eek:> PRICES in his listing. What a revolutionary concept! Holy smokes! I didn't have to guess at the prices, I didn't have to send Roger an email or a PM - and I knew *immediately* whether I could afford them or not. I wonder if those makers who still don't have prices (or a price range) on knives shown on their websites or price tags on the knives on their tables at Blade will ever catch on? ;)

One more time: nice job, Roger! You did it RIGHT. The defense rests. :)

thanks, for passing this gorgeous bowie...i'm now the proud new owner. my bowie collection is still quite small and most of them are users. this is my very first high end custom bowie...so needless to say it's the purdiest!

thanks to RogerP and XueShang...i'll be collecting more bowies.
