I have this wonderful damascus Matched Hunter Set from Master Smith Burt Foster. Here's what he had to say about them:
Damascus Camp Set
"This is my first matched set made with damascus blades. The matched set is designed to tackle anything an outdoorsman may encounter in the wild this side of hurricanes and hernias. You can take down anything from trees to small animals, and look very stylish doing it. The basic design of the knives were taken from the winning cutting competition knife I used at the Moran Hammer-in in 2005.
Both knives have blades of ladder pattern damascus made from O-1 and 15n20 steels. The blades have a slightly upswept spine and a slightly recurved cutting edge. The sculpted guards and coved ferrules are two-bar, twisted "W" pattern damascus. Here is a close-up of the bowie guard and another of the hunter guard. The knives have nickel silver spacers, pins and thong holes with very nice desert ironwood handles.
The larger sheath is designed with my Flex-carry loop system that allows the sheath to be rotated forward to remove the knife and then return to vertical carry. The hunter has a deep pouch sheath.
The bowie has a 10" blade with a 15" overall length. The hunter has a 4" blade with a 8.5" overall length."
