  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Burts Bees

Honey is amazing. It has hydrogen peroxide in it, its extremely hydrophillic (drys out bacteria) and it is acidic. The stuff is extremely sanitary. I have a pic of a healed wound I only treated with honey, somewhere..

You're not kidding.

My great grandfather used to be a beekeeper and he was stung on a regular basis. He never suffered arthritis or anything. Lived to be 94 years old. Also, ate honey on a daily basis and used it, like you say, for wounds.

Freaking amazing.

An old oilfield worker told me this. If hands are very chafed, rub vicks salve on them, put your hands in an old pair of socks, and go to sleep overnight.

A neater way to do that is to put whatever lotion on them and then pull on rubber gloves. Then you can sit around in the evening and you'll hardly notice them after a while.

Didn't the foreman in 'Of Mice and Men' keep one of his hands bathed in Vaseline, in a glove, 'for the ladies'?

I used to make fun of that comment from Mice and men. Now my hands crack during the winter and bleed, and the lady doesn't like them too much. Tooo rough. I may have to resort to the "of mice and men" thing.

If your hands are dry, chafed, sore, bruised, or just plain tired... Badger Balm. It works wonders.

I'm a convert. I found some Badger Healing Balm a couple days ago, and have been using it instead of my Burt's Bees. I much prefer the Badger Balm. It works MUCH better than either the Burt's Bees Hand Salve or the Res-Q for softening up those rough a hard spots on your hands, and helping to heal those miscellaneous scrapes. Amazing stuff!!!! It also smells about 1,000 times better than Burt's Bees, according to my wife, who moves to a different room whenever I pull out the Hand Salve. USDA certified organic also.

And as expected, the Badger Balm works well for fire starting too.

Thanks for the recommendation.
