Bush Bash III in the Desert: January 15-18.

Sasha is still working on it but I expect we'll get the details taken care of this month. We thought it was more important to get the date and approximate area posted so that people could schedule.

As for exposure, one of our members has a cute girlfriend who sometimes hikes in walking shorts and a bikini top. I believe that moderate and tasteful "exposure" like that will be the limit!

If you play your cards right I'll wear my short-shorts in the desert. May not be pretty but it scares the coyotes away...as well as anything else with eyes.

Fortunately, I don't play cards!;)

In addition to 'yotes, there are quite a few kitty down in the Borrego area. In fact, some time ago Mark Jorgensen told me that they were putting a pretty bad hurt on the bighorn sheep population.

Here are a few pics of Anza taken two weekends ago. Visited the mud caves. Most of the pics of the interior of the caves didn't turn out. Was a real workout.

Thanks---it really helps to have some photos. I believe Sasha has a few that he will post (he's been very busy lately). I will try to assist him in getting the campsite arrangements nailed down.

Much appreciated!

Thanks very much! I believe Sasha has contact information but needs to make a few more calls.

Hope to see you there!

Update: Sasha is driving down to Anza-Borrego this month to personally recon the campsite. After his scouting trip we'll post the precise directions, GPS coordinates, etc.

In the event that Sasha's scouting shows that the contemplated location is not completely suitable, the backup will be Little Blair Valley camp area (mentioned above).

So the general area for the gathering is confirmed and the exact camp location will be posted later in December. You can plan on either Little Blair Valley or Sasha's preferred spot, a few miles southeast of there.

As mentioned before, there is some great hiking and the low desert is pretty pleasant this time of year.

Hope to see you there!

Since bringing the Visalia outing notice back to the top generated some additional interest, I thought I'd do the same with this one.

That would be some real fun stuff. I promise to shuffle out there some time. It would be fantastic to take a road trip all the way out there.

Needless to say, if you are ever out West around the time of a gathering, we'd love to have you.

Back up for any new folks who might tune in this weekend.

Hopefully Sasha will be back from Borrego and post a report on the primary campsite soon. If that doesn't work out, it's Little Blair Valley (which is really easy to find).

Resurfacing from Page 8 for New Year's Day.

Happy New Year to all!

Sasha just returned from his scouting mission and has posted a thread with some very nice photos of the target area. Whether we camp at Little Blair Valley or closer to the trailheads depends upon the sentiment of those who want to participate.

Who's up for it?

DancesWithKnives

I've only been to Anza once, at the mud caves, so don't have a good feel for those two potential camp locations. Pros and cons of each?

Sasha and Jason: It was a good idea of Sasha's but I think we just picked a time that wasn't very appealing to folks. That or desert camping isn't a big draw.

In any event, the Anza-Borrego gathering is off.

The next scheduled gathering for California is at the end of April above Visalia. It's a nice area and the previous attendees have enjoyed it. We hope folks will be able to participate.

Thanks,
