I recently finished this 13" blade, 19" OAL bush knife/machete/jungle sword and it is now available for general purchase. The steel is Aldo 1084, 3/16" at the ricasso with distal taper to tip. The design was inspired by Hmong bush knives as well as Viking seax and bowies (with the false edge on the spine). The tsuba-like guard is heavily etched 200 plus year old wrought iron with hammered copper seppa. The handle is East Indian rosewood, copper spacer and stabilized eucalyptus burl. The eucalyptus is book-matched scales with morticed, hidden tang construction. The hidden tang is almost full size and held in with through peened copper rivets. The finish is a combination of hamon from clay quench as well as some forge scale. The grind is flat.
I'm offering this with a center-seam style scabbard with raffia wrap holding a ring for either a belt loop (will be provided) or can be clipped into a shoulder harness. This is a wonderful set-up and a beautiful, but tough-as-nails bush blade. I was just out hacking on green bamboo and it holds a great edge.
I'm asking $485 shipped. Paypal accepted to scott@bigrockforge.com
Money back guarantee after 1 week if dissatisfied and in original condition.
------ I'm now asking $425 shipped.
