In the name of testing I allowed myself to play with this bush sword I recently made. :)

As the title states the blade is W2 with a peaked spine and strong distal taper from over 5/16" at the handle with tapered tang and taper to the point. Primarily flat ground then blended into a convex edge it cuts easily and deep.
The blade is 14" and the handle a full 6".
The handle is white oak that has been "aged" wrapped with hemp coated in epoxy and a turks head knot for a guard.

With the weight of all that steel it cuts easily but the length and tapers provide a nice balance with the center of balance about 2" in front of th handle.

An afternoon of cutting and burning windfall with no apparent effect on the edge. Still shaving sharp.

Fun times on a mild Christmas Eve.

Happy Holidays everyone!

That's a great looking piece with the standard jaw dropping hamon:thumbup:. I'll bet it's a blast to swing, great job.

Very nice work. This one appeals to me greatly. Thanks for the pictures. Mike

That looks like a super nice bush whacker. Love the geometry and the grind(s) as you describe them--strong distal taper, flat ground to a convex edge.. Appears to incorporate some very effective elements. I really like the evolving utility/efficiency of what you're doing with sword formats. Wonderful piece here.

I love bush swords and I love testing em. Woe to tag alder brush.

Beautiful hamon.... nice package altogether....

if that is not spoken for, drop me a pm:)

Nice!! That is a lot of W2...and it looks great. Awesome job. Thanks for the pics and preformance report. W2 is great steel.

Lorien, hope this finds a place under your tree. :)
