On the weekend of May 2, we'll be having a W&SS gathering near Visalia, CA for anyone interested in participating. There's a post in the calendar sticky with links to directions and some photos of the area. Should be a lot of fun!:D

I plan to bring an OLD friend of mine who worked in the African bush. He is a retired trauma surgeon and used to ride a horse to villages that had no road going to them. Often patched up wounds on an emergency basis in a thatched roof hut, under the light of a torch or lantern.

I'm really ttying to attend. I'm trying to get out of going to a wedding that weekend but my wife is pretty insistent on it :(

Offer to toss another $50+ into a nicer wedding gift? I'm single so I don't have much to offer in the way of advice on inter-spousal calendar conflict resolution.

Hope you make it!

Tell her that they going to break up anyway in less then 5 years so its a waste of a good present and if she comes with you that would be a great way for the two of you to get closer togher................. Well its not like i promise it to work but thats the best i can think of.... Yea i know if thats the best i can think of!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tell her that you've received threats that if you don't show up, all your good knives will be confiscated and you'll find Pakistani knives between your sheets (in lieu of the traditional horse's head)!

DWK ... His wife might not care about HIS knifes so it wont work...... Maybe we should say that if she goes to the wedding then all of us survivlist nut cases would use the time to break into the house and steal all her shoes with heels and bury them in the desert... We would also use her make up for war paint.... If that wont change her mind then she is too tough for us to mess with in the first place.

I'll definitely be up there either Thurs. or Fri. The old fellow I'm bringing will be pretty entertaining. For all of you with special expertise in an area, he will tell you how you've either been doing it wrong or could do it better!:D He once spent half an hour on a drive to the trap range giving me instructions on how to shoot trap. On the first round, I got a 24 (a bit better than usual) and he shot 6! He then said that his real game was skeet, where he promptly went on to post a big 5! He was still giving me advice on how to shoot. Had to tell him I didn't really want to know how to convert a 24 into a 5 or 6....

He LOVES to tell people that oatmeal pots/bowls can be washed ONLY in cold water. I have personally found hot water to work just fine but he revels in repeating things without testing them himself.

I think i might know your friend under a diffrent name lol... I dont like to do dishes so i would let him do them.

Sasha

If you saw him wash dishes, you wouldn't be so enthusiastic. However, he provides other entertainment. For example, I expect he'll be wearing the same jacket he wore during the Battle of the Bulge. You can even see where he (like other soldiers) sewed pieces of Army blanket into their jackets as a wool lining because they didn't have proper winter issue garments. If you see this coat, you won't doubt it's 65 years old.

Well my entertainment has a homeowners' association meeting on the weekend of BushBash I so it looks like I'm going solo. Hopefully it won't be quite as hot as it is this week! Otherwise we'll need to look for a lake.:D

Hey DWK you were supposed to bring the entertainment... So i guess we would expect you to dance and sing for us... You dont want a bunch of guys getting bored.. What might be worse is a few boys with bows that get bored...

Hey boys and girls i just got a call from my niece. She wants to know if there would be anyone else around her age 15 ... She is worried that ya old f**ts would bore her to death.. If there is no phone service.. There is also an 80% chance that her brother would come and he is 11 and realy into the outdoors.

Sasha

It's "dances" with knives---there will be NO singing with knives by me. I sound sort of like one of those wounded rabbit predator calls....only worse!

Your niece and nephew are certainly welcome but I'd be a lot happier if you told me you were bringing about a half dozen single outdoor-type gals in the 30-50 age range!:D

Tell them it will be a good chance to spend some time learning from there elders...

... Learning how not to turn out...:D

Go ahead and bring them if they want to come, I bet they'll have fun either way, besides, I'm sure the ladies will appreciate having another girl around, and well, I think your nephew will have fun no matter what. I mean what is there not to like about this trip for a young man; Camping, campfires, guns, archery, knives, smores...
