Bushcraft blade blank

looks like a pretty cooll knife, plus its got some history behind it. if it isnt heat treated, there are several people around here that sould probably help out with that.

That looks cool. Only problem with heat treat would be knowing what kind of steel.

It is likely a basic carbon steel which would make it a bit easier to guess or one could buy two and have one tested.

Still a very cool looking knife and a great piece of history.

My thoughts exactly. I like the blade stamp and the tang shape. I'd use some files to work out a different profile and scandi grind like a bushcraft blade and still keep the stamp. Finding someone to do the heat treat should be too hard on this forum :D

Those blades are fairly thick. I made one into a Wharncliffe last year.

Ask Andrew Colglazier about it...he owns it now.

If you remember, how thick are they? Compared to one of the other bushcraft blades out there? Also, what kind of metal did you find it was for the heat treat purposes?

Can't recall thickness....over 1/8" though.

And yes they are heat treated....just no edge.
