We talk a lot about Kepharts knife but not a lot about his book Camping and Woodcraft.

IMO although it lacks pics it seems to cover what would be considered lightweight backpacking pretty well and then moves on and goes in detail into a lot of skills we associate with bushcraft in more depth than most other books that specifically claim to be bushcraft books.

IMO his book is better than his knife. :p

All those "old guys" had pretty good books. Check out Cal Rutstrum's books, too.

Kepharts book is a fun read. It doesn't relate much at all to modern camping practices, but still has some good info. If I headed back in time, he'd be the guy I'd want around on a long pack trip for sure.
