Bushcraft for beginners?

I don't really consider myself a Bushcrafter.

But I like to do stuff like cook over a fire. More challenging when it's raining or snowing.

Also a lot of times I like to try to incorporate some wild foods as part of my meal.

If I am in a difft area than I live often I bring a camera and take pics of plants I don't know to ID when I get home.
 
Sorry this maybe like way off but can anyone recommend a good pack? I was thinking of using a old Alice pack but not sure if it's big enough I have a osprey pack but it's way big. Any recommendations? Thank you
