So I'm trying to in my mind come up with a list of popular high end bushcraft knives, so far I can think of:
Tops
Esee
Fallkniven
Bark river
Survive!
Busse
Fiddleback
Lt wright
Lon Humphrey

Please add to the list if I'm missing anything, I like this style of knife, also I'm wondering I have a bark river gunny hunter but am thinking about also picking up a fallkniven f1 and esee 3, do you think I'd be disappointed as they are quite a bit lower price bracket as the bark river? And in your mind what makes a bushcraft knife a high end bushcraft knife

I think the word "Bushcraft Knife" is used too much and becoming stereotypical.

Get a large stockman of quality steel and put it in your front pocket ($20).

Get a KA-Bar MKI with stacked leather handles and hang on your belt ($60). (a good trade out could be the ESEE 6 but you can get by with the MKI and be very happy)

Get a Husqvarna 26 inch multi purpose forest axe ($70).

Then get a good bow saw and you are set ($30).

All for around $180 which is better than one knife that runs $150 plus.

Ontario makes them.

Boker makes them.

I love the Benchmade one and if I was to buy a knife that is designated as a "Bushcraft Knife" it is one I would look at very hard.

Buck makes a few I believe.

Also define high-end. Is high end price or quality. I believe that Ontario has a few that is better then the Bucks but Bucks cost more so which is the higher end one.

What makes a bushcraft knife a high end bushcraft knife? Price does.

What makes a knife a bushcraft knife? Marketing departments.

Most associate bushcraft with a knife type, i.e ray mears designed woodlore. However any good bushcrafter will tell you there is no bushcraft kit, it's knowledge.

Saying that, if you want a great scandi style knife, AAforge, love mine. Have owned many types, LT's GNS is awesome, fiddleback ke bushie I love, Benchmade bushcrafter designed by Sibert is bombproof.

They are all worth the money, the tops one is heavy as sin but a steal at 100 bucks or so.

You forgot..... There is a bazillion Custom makers that produce fine bushcraft knives.. :)

OP,

It depends what you are looking to do with these knives in addition to your gunny. Personally, I've been happy with my eese izula.

To me, a high end knife is defined by materials used and purposeful design.

Here is another maker for your list: Carothers Performance Knives (CPK)

There's the Spyderco Bushcraft and Proficient as well. Don't have either, but they seem to be well regarded.

They also have several mule blanks available right now that may make suitable blades for that type of use: B70P, 4V, RWL34. I've been very happy with my B70P mule.

I am referring to general utility belt knives with about a 4 inch blade, bushcraft knife was the best term I could think of

I try to generally stay away from the expensive "mainstream" type "bushcraft" knives like those from TOPS or Benchmade, I do own a few Mora's but my favourite is an 8cm paaso puukkot "polar" which is a lovely blade and holds a good edge, but I know people do tend to dislike puukko type designs because you can't abuse it with chores like batoning or stabbing.

Enzo
Smith and Sons
Blind Horse
Battle Horse

If you're looking at the ESEE 3 I'd definitely peek at the HM version. I thought the F1 handles to be pretty unpleasant to use for long but that's an individual thing.

Only one I own is a Morakniv Bushcraft black carbon steel. It's awesome.

And that, is the only one many folks will ever need. Some folks just love wood working. For example I cherish my Krein Wood Carving knife more than any others. It compliments a variety of larger knives real well.
