Well folks after lurking here in the makers forum for some time I have finally started my second real knife. It's a pretty simple Bushcraft style (1/8" 01, Scandi Grind) knife, nothing to complex due to being fresh at this and having a very limited amount of tools(a file, a dremel, and a huge grinding wheel we have at work.) As you can see by the image below it's still in the rough stage. I am at the point now where I need to start thinking about scales. I have some Madrone Burl that I got when I ordered the steel but have never worked with it before. I'm open to other suggestions for an easy to work with wood that won't need a ton of maintenance. I had some pretty poor luck with some Lacewood and being an ex finish carpenter I know it's not my skills seem to have just gotten some bad wood. I should likely mention that I don't plan to use pins this time. Just going to drill some holes for epoxy to fill and leave the pins out. Sorry for the poor pic's, as this goes on I plan to upgrade my camera skills (i.e. have the wife take them). Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I already have some more steel on the way in the form of D2 and some 1080. So yeah, I think I have the bug.

I would strongly recommend to rethink the pins idea... Ive fiddeled arround with different handle variations(affixing the scales) and found that using pins with a good epoxy and then peening the pins is the way to go... but other than that the profile looks good.enjoy, its very addicting!
